Bill Parcells Considering Saints’
By K. Woods Coming off the heels of an unprecedented decision by NFL Commissioner Roger Goddell, the New Orleans Saints may have a “Hall Of Fame” worthy quick fix. Bill Parcells, who once coached the New York Giants to two Super Bowl victories (1986, 1990), may be making his return to coaching. The NFL suspended New Orleans Saints’ head coach Sean Payton without pay for the 2012-2013 season for his involvement in the “bounty scandal” that took place over the course of several seasons. Due to this situation, the Saints as of April 1st will be void of a head coach. Enter Bill Parcells. Parcells, who is close friends with Payton, has gone on record saying that he will consider returning to coach the Saints if offered the opportunity. It was reported by ESPN.Com that Parcells expressed his interest in the position in a phone conversation with ESPN senior NFL Analyst Chris Mortensen of his consideration. “”If the opportunity presents itself, I’ll think it over and clearly I’m in some phase of the process without knowing whether it’s going to become a reality,” said Parcells. “”Sean’s become a dear, dear friend. Tebow, who last season led the Denver Broncos to their first post season birth & win since 2005, was traded along with a seventh round draft pick to the Jets for a fourth and sixth round draft pick. The trade has been met with mixed reaction from athletes, analysts, media outlets, and fans across the country. On one hand, there is the drama in Denver. It has been reported on numerous occasions that John Elway, the executive vice president for the Denver Broncos, has wanted to replace Tim Tebow as starting quarterback on numerous occasions. Elway got his guy as the Broncos acquired the four-time NFL MVP quarterback Peyton Manning through free agency. One of the most talked about and anticipated films, The Hunger Games, was released this past Friday. There were many speculations whether or not the movie would live up to the quality of the book. The numbers at the box office over the weekend removed any doubt that people had. The film depicts the potential future state of North America after a drought, fire, famine, and a war. As a result, North America is replaced by Panem, a country divided into the Capitol and twelve districts. Each year, two individuals are picked to represent their district in the hunger games, and when sixteen-year-old Katniss’ younger sister becomes one of the chosen ones to represent her district, Katniss volunteers to take her place and must survive this entertaining yet brutal passage that all of the citizens of Panem are required to watch.
